Banff & Jasper National Parks
September 18-23, 2017
Group Leaders – Roger Devore & Robert Chaplin
The Canadian Rockies, with their rousing grandeur, serve as a magnificent backdrop for everything we will encounter in Banff and Jasper National Parks. After visiting the areas around the town of Banff, Lake Louise, and Moraine Lake, we will continue north along the Ice fields Parkway, named for the massive glacial ice fields still active in the Canadian Rockies. We will spend the last three nights in Jasper, exploring the park that surrounds the town. The runoff from the ice fields has created countless milky turquoise-colored lakes and rivers winding their way through the pines, spruce, fir, larch, and aspen forests. Hopefully we will be there at peak time for the spectacular fall color of the larch and aspen. These forests are home to bear, deer, elk, moose, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, wolves, and countless bird species. The glaciers also provide constant heavy summer runoffs that create an abundance of waterfalls moving with fantastic force throughout both Parks. The Parks are 97% backcountry, and we will spend much of our time exploring rivers, lakes, and waterfalls away from the normally traveled road. We will shoot throughout the Parks through Saturday evening, September 23, splitting our time between Banff and Jasper Parks.
The workshop begins in Banff, AB, Canada and ends at a hotel near the Calgary Airport late on September 23. We will spend three nights in Banff and three nights in Jasper. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to Banff. There are several regularly scheduled shuttles from Calgary Airport to Banff. We will provide this info with your registration confirmation package. Transportation to Calgary on last day of workshop is included, if riding with us. Saturday September 23 will be a full day of shooting. Do not plan to fly home until Sunday, September 24.
Fees: $1095 – Fees do not include transportation and lodging during the workshop. Meals and other personal items are also not included. We offer an option (until our vehicle is full) to ride with us for $150.The workshop begins in Banff, AB, Canada and ends at a hotel near the Calgary Airport late on Sep 23.
