The young Canadian Rockies, with their rousing grandeur, serve as a magnificent backdrop for everything we will encounter in Banff and Jasper National Parks. After visiting the areas around the town of Banff, Lake Louise, and Moraine Lake, we will concentrate our efforts along the Icefields Parkway, named for the massive glacial ice fields still active in the Canadian Rockies. The runoff from the ice fields creates innumerable milky-turquoise colored lakes and rivers winding their way through the pines, spruce, fir, larch, and aspen forests that are home to bear, deer, elk, moose, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, and countless bird species. The glaciers also provide constant heavy summer runoffs that create innumerable waterfalls moving with fantastic force throughout both parks. The parks are 97% back country, and we will spend much of our time exploring rivers, lakes, and waterfalls away from the normally-traveled road. We will shoot throughout the park through Sunday evening. We will split time between Banff and Jasper parks. Richard has been traveling and leading workshops in Banff and Jasper for years and he can take you to some places you can’t imagine exist.
